VO2 Max Testing
A VO2 max test is a comprehensive assessment of cardiovascular fitness and aerobic capacity, and correlates strongly with LONGEVITY.
During the test, you typically engage in progressively intense exercise, such as running on a treadmill or cycling on a stationary bike, while wearing a mask connected to a machine that analyzes your oxygen consumption and carbon dioxide production. This allows the technician to measure your maximal oxygen uptake (VO2 max), which represents the maximum amount of oxygen your body can utilize during exercise.
The test continues until you reach your maximum effort or until certain physiological criteria are met. VO2 max is a key indicator of cardiovascular health and fitness level, and this test will also provide you with your EXERCISE HEART RATE ZONES. knowing your VO2 max can help tailor exercise programs and track improvements over time. The test typically lasts around 10 to 20 minutes and is considered safe when performed under proper supervision.
